How must I be saved?

That’s a wonderful and important question. The Bible gives a clear and consistent message about how a person can be saved — that is, how to receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life with God.
Here’s what Scripture teaches, step by step:
1. Recognize Your Need for Salvation
The Bible says that all people have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard.
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Because of sin, we are separated from God and face spiritual death.
Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2. Understand What God Did for You
God loves you deeply and made a way for you to be forgiven and reconciled to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day, conquering death.
Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
3. Repent and Believe in Jesus Christ
Salvation comes through repentance (turning away from sin) and faith (trusting fully in Jesus).
Acts 3:19 – “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”Romans 10:9–10 – “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
4. Receive the Gift of Salvation
Salvation isn’t something you can earn — it’s a free gift of grace through faith.
Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
5. Follow Jesus as Lord
Once you’ve trusted in Christ, you begin a new life as His disciple — growing in faith, obeying His Word, and sharing His love.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
In Summary: The Biblical Way to Be Saved
Admit you are a sinner.
Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again.
Repent — turn from your sin to God.
Confess Jesus as Lord and trust Him as your Savior.
Follow Him in faith and obedience.
